Home Toxicity - There May Be Something Your Doctor Isn't Telling You

How many of these diseases and health conditions do you suffer from?

Cancer, asthma, bronchitis, acute toxicity, food poisoning, headaches, Eye irritations, Dizziness, Depression, Fatigue, Sinus Infections, Flu, Skin irritations

This list is small. However, if you are suffering from any of these, it could be all starting from home.

What your Doctor probably hasn't thought of, while doing a checkup on you, is that Indoor air pollution and other chemical warfare that happens in the home, is 2-5 times higher than outdoors. Think about it.

There are things that occur in air-tight buildings:

Mold is undetectable behind wallpaper and paneling in basements, ductwork, etc.

Formaldehyde is a gas that is emitted from furniture glue, paneling, and carpeting.

And if this was not enough, there are also environmental concerns. More than 9 out of 10 suspected poison exposures occur at with household products.

Personal Care products are just as harmful. It seems harmless, but the effects show their colors after time. You can't just drop it at moment you notice the symptoms. Lipsticks, Baby Oil, Eyeliner and Soaps -- many of which contain a chemical called butylate hyroxtoleune, which is known to cause cancer in animals and is suspected to cause birth defects.

Then there's Shampoo, Mouthwashes, Toothpaste. Many brands contain formaldehyde although there are several names they may hide it under. Fluoride, which is supposed to be a help in toothpaste, can greatly screw up the thyroid. I myself am a singer, and I try as much as possible to avoid this. Because the Thyroid is so close to the vocal box that if it were to enlarge, it would push against the vocal cords.

Chlorine is another strange chemical. It's supposed to help us but the irony is that it can also harm us. Chlorine gas was used in the 2nd world war as a chemical weapon to harm the air sacks of opposing soldier's lungs. Our bathroom and kitchen faucets bring water that already has chlorine in them. Imagine this going through your bloodstream!

On top of this, all of these chemicals are being disposed into our soils and return back to the water. Our city filtration facilities can only handle so much contaminants. Some of the airbourne pollution caused by household cleaners can also greatly harm our skies (these actually do make their way up!) and can contribute to Global Warming.

There are ways you can reduce the level of toxicity in your home. Let's start with the water. Most local health food stores carry apparatuses that you can install into your shower heads, which filter the chlorine and keeps your water a level safer.

Switch brands of soap, toilet bowl cleaners (very dangerous, I'll mention this in future articles), toothpaste with more natural ones. It's important to check that the natural and healthier alternatives do not contain one ounce of contaminant. This includes ammonia, which is found in some window cleaners (a dangerous and gaseous chemical.)

The cleaners that you are going to use must be biodegradable within a week, not 100 years (as some cleaners do.) Do your due diligence and research to the component level, not based on what is printed!

Some non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaners are not concentrated. Meaning that if you were to use these up, you would have to chuck them out and buy more again within 4 months. It should last you a long time and is economically sound.

Another good rule of thumb is to see if they make the good list of organizations such as PETA (People for ethical treatment of animals), Greenpeace or Earth Day committees.

If you're looking for more information on recommended brands of non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaners, feel free to visit my website on the link below. And start making your home a healthy and safe place to live!

Common Cosmetic Dentistry Problems and Solutions

Stained, aged looking teeth

As we age, our teeth begin to darken naturally. Staining and the aging process in general can slowly discolor the teeth and create the appearance of age. While this is usually inevitable, it is not irreversible. Using today's modern tooth whitening treatments, your teeth can be whiter, brighter, and more vibrant and youthful looking than ever, in as little as a single office visit.

Cracking, pitting, and chipping

We offer several solutions to teeth that have surface damage such as cracking, pitting, and chipping.
Depending on your preferences and the type and severity of problem, you may choose a procedure such as porcelain veneers, porcelain inlays and onlays, or bonded fillings to improve the appearance of your smile.

Crooked teeth

Traditional orthodontics is no longer your only solution for crooked teeth. Today, we can offer Instant Orthodontics, a cosmetic procedure in which your teeth are given the appearance of being straightened utilizing a safe, long-lasting porcelain veneer solution.

Gaps between the teeth

We offer several options for patients who don't like the look of gaps between their teeth. The most popular options include porcelain veneers and dental bonding procedures, either of which can effectively eliminate the gap and create a straight, clean looking appearance.

Missing or damaged teeth

Missing and damaged teeth don't just look bad, they can cause serious problems. When a tooth is lost, the whole structure of the mouth changes. Adjacent teeth begin to shift, chewing function deteriorates, and periodontal problems can result. Whether you have teeth that are damaged or missing, we offer a variety of solutions to restore not just the look of a healthy smile, but the function of the bite and the jaw as well.

Options for tooth repair and replacement include:

+ Porcelain crowns, for extensive damage to the visible portion of the tooth.

+ Porcelain inlays, and onlays, for cases in which some visible tooth is salvageable.

+ Bonded Fillings, for an economical but still natural looking alternative to porcelain in many circumstances.

+ Dental implants, for complete replacement of the tooth, including both the visible portion and the root.

Pay Attention To Your Health Care Provider's Advice For Better Health

If you are going to go through the trouble to pay a visit to your health care provider, it only makes sense to pay attention to their advice if you hope to have good health. Following your health care providers advice is the smart way to go since you are entrusting your future health in their hands.

Your health care provider has spent a number of years dedicated to learning all they can about human health from diagnosing illnesses to determining the best course of action to either cancel out the ailment or at least make you comfortable living with the illness.

It is always important to have a good relationship with your health care provider. It may also help to get to know the people who work in the office as well, as developing a great relationship with those in charge of your health care is always a good idea. Making sure they know your personal condition can help your health care provider better understand your medical situation.

If you make a decision that you want to try alternative medications, such as herbal or all natural ingredients, you should always check with your health care provider about how they could work together with your current medications and what effect, if any, that they could have on your medications stability.

Furthermore, if you end up hospitalized your health care provider may not be the doctor keeping up with your progress in the hospital, rather they may turn that aspect of your health care to specialists involved in additional care involving the issues that have placed you in the hospital.
Pay attention to your health care provider's advice, it could save your life.

Tea Tree Oil: Getting to Glorious Gums

Gum disease. Known to dentists as gingivitis, is one of those afflictions that drives doctors and dentists crazy. Why? Because in most cases, it is entirely preventable. If you take good care of your teeth and gums, you will probably never have to deal with the pain, the expense, or the other problems to which gum disease can sometimes lead.

Gingivitis gets its start when bacteria move into the area around your gums. If the bacteria are not cleaned out, they can move below the gum line and start to form thin film. Within a few days, you have a buildup of a multi bacterial gunk called plaque. Add some minerals from your saliva to the mix, and you end up with a hard-to-remove substance called tartar.

In some people, years of plaque and tartar buildup can lead to a bacterial infection of the gums. Their gums, which had been pink, firm, and healthy, become red and puffy, and they bleed easily when brushed.

For some people, the infection can move from the gums down into the connective tissue and bone that hold the teeth in their mouths. And as if that is not bad enough, gingivitis might grow into dreaded periodonitis, which can eventually cause both losses.

Tea Tree Oil as a Treatment for Gum Diseases

The central gum disease prevention premise is a good dental hygiene, which means keeping your teeth and mouth clean.

This is nowhere near as simple as it sounds. The mouth is a paradise for bacteria and germs. All the nooks and crannies between your teeth are perfect bacteria hiding spots. When you add in all the food that gets chomped and stuck between your molars, it is easy to see why mouth maintenance is no snap.

But there is another way to treat gum diseases aside from working out a hygienic routine for the mouth. Though having a clean mouth is the most important preventive step you can take to thwart gum disease, it is not your only defense. Topical treatments such as tea tree oil can be a strong shield as well.

Tea tree oil is an indispensable oil extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a plant inherent to Australia. This type of oil is known to have useful medical and aesthetic properties. It has also some antifungal and antiseptic function. Hence, it can notably cure and treat gum diseases.

Tea tree oil is a recognized antiseptic, antifungal, and bacterial agent. It has been known to effectively fight against multiple bacteria in the gums and other areas in the skin. Tea tree oil's ability to kill bacteria is the number one reasons why it has been considered as a treatment for gum diseases.

Tea tree oil contains substances, known as terpenoids, which can effectively treat infections. These substances were also proven most effective in rendering antifungal and antiseptic functions.

However, studies show that tea tree oil should not be taken orally since it can be poisonous when taken by mouth. Research shows that even a few drops or small amounts (as little as a few teaspoons) can be unsafe. That is why its safety is exclusively patterned to external applications.

In fact, even if tea tree oil is applied externally, some cases of allergic reactions and irritations were still noted.

On the other hand, since tea tree oil is an effective antibacterial element, manufacturers of oral hygiene products have decided to use tea tree oil as an important element in their products. No wonder why tea tree oil is a popular substance known to make toothpastes more effective means of treating gum diseases.

Reports can statistically prove that tea tree oil is safe when combined with other substances included in oral hygiene products such as toothpastes. Though, it should never be ingested.

Indeed, tea tree oil as a treatment for gum disease still requires a lot of studies and experiments to prove its safety and potency. While this is still the case, it is best to consult your dentists before taking any medications or treatments containing tea tree oil.

Bad Breath May Not be Your Fault

Have a bad case of bad breath? You might have something common like gingivitis or poor oral habits. If you think this is unlikely, you might have what is called halitosis- a disease that makes your breath smell worse than usual more often than not.

Bad breath is common from things like stress, hunger, dry mouth- or eating foods like cheese, onions, and especially garlic. However, there is a more serious condition to those who feel like they have bad breath more often than they should: chronic bad breath. It can affect up to ¼ of the population, so you aren't alone.

Treatment is another matter. Simply using chewing gum or brushing your teeth will produce short term effects. For more serious matters, there are numerous treatments, but they only work for certain people. Your best bet would be to change your stressing lifestyle, if applicable, and to observe a proper nutrition. Cutting down on sugars is a key in fighting bad breath. One of the best preventions is to brush after every meal, to get out trapped food and help keep the bacteria level in check.

If you do indeed have bad breath, it is something everyone goes through at some point in their lives, says statistics. The best thing to do is keep a toothbrush handy, and improve your lifestyle in general. In no time, you will have a normalized breath back- and will only have to worry when you eat onions or garlic, two of the 'smelliest' foods.

Braces Manhattan Can Give You The Best Dental Treatment

Invisible Braces is the best way to give you a sweet smile and to enhance your personality as well. Braces are made to keep your teeth in alignment, proper and
Well shaped. Braces can be used to cure your teeth from any dental problem.
Mostly teenagers and adults use it because this is their time when they want to look attractive and impressive. If you are residing in Manhattan, be sure to take treatment from the best dentist. Tell your dentist the appropriate cause of your treatment so that the dentist can reach the root of the problem and then he will decide whether your teeth need braces or not.

Traditional Braces made of metals were not liked and hence people were not fond of such types. It gives a bad impression to someone fastening a metal braces on a misaligned and crooked teeth. So a new and hi-tech type was introduced to get a perfect smile. This new braces in Manhattan became very popular and more effective too. Earlier braces Manhattan made of metallic brackets were glued to the front side of the teeth, which gave an awkward look. But now-a day they are fasten towards the inward side in the teeth i.e. Invisalign and Clear braces. Braces are also made of wires and elastic materials. The invisible braces put pressure on the teeth and gradually it regains its desirable place.

The gauche look which one gets from braces gave evolution to invisible braces, which is also called Invisalign braces. The Invisalign treatment is new treatment, which gives patients the freedom from those metallic braces. Metal brackets are attached to a wire and further fasten by the dentist to achieve the desirable place. The wires are tightened once a month by the dentist and it has to be continued for a period of at least two year or more. Braces come in different colors and mode, made of gold, sapphire etc to give a fashionable look.

The demand of better and comfortable braces gave born to this invisalign treatment. The invisalign braces are light in weight and it is placed inside the teeth. The person taking this treatment has to take care of keeping it out when he wants to eat something. Although it is also important to brush up your teeth and braces as well after eating something This seems very uneasy to do all these. So to get rid of them, cosmetic surgeon gave revolution to a new type of braces called Clear Braces. These types of braces are made of ceramics or plastics. This ceramic made braces is fasten on the front and lower side of the teeth thus making them least visible.

It's a recommendation to use braces only approved by American Dental Association. The invention of Clear braces and Invisalign has made easier for a person to visit dentist rather than ignoring of all the earlier problems and visiting the dentist. It's been all the way easier to get a perfect smile.

The Young and the Dentist

At the tender age of 29, this frequent viewer of extreme-makeover television already was well acquainted with cosmetic options in dentistry. Veneers. Invisalign. Tooth-colored fillings. Gum reshaping. Britesmile. She could tick them off in one breath, because all are nearly as popular as liposuction and nose jobs. And all get a lot media attention.

"So, when I sat down with my dentist to talk about a new smile, I was so ready," says Susan, who works as an investment banker at a large firm. "It was easy to okay a plan to re-contour my gums and place six veneers. And, of course, step one was to go under the whitening light."

Susan represents a growing number of patients heading for the cosmetic dentist's chair—before their 30th birthday. Once the province of the "middle-age-plus" group, appearance-related dental care is now a part of the cosmetic culture for every age group.

"It used to be that people considered their teeth the way they considered their height, something that cannot be changed, and what could be changed was done as we age," says Dr. Daniel Deutsch, of the Washington Center for Dentistry, in Washington, DC. "But today's younger people aren't waiting until middle age to improve their smiles. They expect to immediately improve the color and shape of their teeth—that when it comes to dentistry—they can go from 5'5" to 6'2."

And so it is that these days Susan sports pearlescent veneers between her lips—under a gum line that now barely shows when she smiles—just as doctor and patient intended.

Here is what she had done:

· The teeth achieved a lighter color after a one-hour session under the blue light of Britesmile treatment, making her teeth at least six shades lighter.

· Then the doctor designed her veneers to match them to her new whiter teeth.

· The doctor used a soft-tissue laser to reshape her gum line, revealing more of her tooth structure underneath.

· The doctor prepared six of her front teeth to receive six veneers. He took impressions and placed six temporary veneers that instantly made the smile look better.

· The permanent veneers looked amazing, turning a dark, gummy, crooked smile into a smile with shiny veneers and a lovely gum line relocated to a new and proper place.

"This is the smile I should have been born with," says Susan. "Now my beautiful white teeth fill the space between my lips. And my gums are trimmed back under my lips, where they belong!"

Beat Bad Breath With 1 Cheap Item From Your Fridge

If you've read "The Bad Breath Report", you already know that hydrogen sulfide (which smells like rotten eggs!) is one of the main Volatile Sulfur Compounds, or "VSCs", produced in 85-90% of bad breath cases.

In a study detailed at the 83rd General Session of the International Association for Dental Research, Dr. Kenichi Hojo of Tsurumi University in Yokohama, Japan, found that sugarless yogurt significantly reduced the levels of oral hydrogen sulfide in 80% of participants.

The 24 volunteers who partook in the study followed strict instructions on oral hygiene, diet and medication intake.

The participants first avoided yogurts of all types for about 2 weeks and then had samples of VSCs taken from their mouths.

They then ate 90-grams (that's about 3 ounces) of sugarless yogurt twice-a-day for a period of 6-weeks.

At the end of the study, more samples were taken and a significant reduction in hydrogen sulfide levels was discovered in 80% of participants.

It was postulated that active bacteria in the yogurt, specifically Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus effectively drowned-out the bacteria responsible for producing the hydrogen sulfide.

While that doesn't effectively address the root cause of bad breath (as explained in "The Bad Breath Report"), it does show fighting bad breath doesn't have to be unpleasant. After all, what could be more pleasant than a pot of tasty yogurt every day!? 

To apply findings of this study, simply…

Eat about 3-ounces of sugar-free yogurt containing live cultures of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermopholis (Check the labels!) every day!

There Are so Many Career Opportunities in Nursing Today

All over the world today there is an extremely high demand for health care workers; especially nurses! Advanced technology is helping us to understand the human body and giving us the capacity to live longer now than ever before. Now that America's baby boom generation is beginning to retire, even more health-care professionals are needed. The future is sure to hold many career opportunities in nursing.

A nurse can move to practically any city in the world and easily find employment. Today's nurses are required to perform more tasks than ever before. Some of these tasks include, among others, diagnostic testing, drawing blood or other bodily fluids, providing emotional support, giving medical advice, educating patients and patients' families on specific illnesses and how to manage them.

Teaching patients and their families how to perform home care is yet another responsibility of nurses today. Some nurses even have the responsibility of performing grief counseling to families of patients who are critically ill. Nurses also provide vital services to communities such as local blood drives, health screenings, immunizations, health seminars, health screenings, along with other health related community needs.

Lots of nurses elect to specialize in one specific medical field. There are countless fields of study nurses have choose from. Mental health nursing, hospital nursing, clinical nursing, private duty nurses, emergency room nursing, operating room nurses, oncology nursing, in geriatrics nurses, pediatrics nursing, pulmonary medicine nursing, family nursing and elderly care nursing are a few examples of medical fields nurses have to choose from. Many nursing students will elect to study two or more specialized fields to increase their employment opportunities even more.

With the need for more and more qualified nurses to handle today's demanding workforce, nursing schools both online and traditional are struggling to meet the needs of the health-care industry. There seems to be the greatest demand for nurses in countries with aging populations. There are career opportunities for nurses in every country of the world today.

Finding employment is probably the easiest part of being a nurse today. Todays nurses are more likely to have trouble getting time off from work. Vacation time and personal time will be harder to come by for health care workers until such a time where more nurses graduate.

Dental Wax For Braces

Having braces can be excruciating and could result in a loss of appetite. However, for vanity's sake, we try to bear the discomforts and twinges in hopes of getting a perfect set of pearly whites. Well, you don't really need to go through the throbbing sensations as there are now some dental products in the market that somehow help ease the pain. Your survival kit should include dental wax for braces that significantly prevents chaffing when applied in between the wires.

The biting pressure and soreness are usually expected to last for three to five days every time you'll have your braces installed or readjusted. Typically, dentists would recommend rinsing the mouth with some salt-water mouthwash regularly. However, your inner cheek and lips may suffer most of the brunt as they are mostly in contact with the wires. You can numb the pain by applying some special dental wax for braces on the surface of the brackets. The soothing mint flavor of the dental wax for braces lessens the discomforts and is generally cheap with an average cost of $ 1.75 for five strips. Now that is certainly something you would want to take advantage of, right?

You can browse through a number of different flavored dental waxes for braces at the online shop, along with other dental products especially created for people with braces. Simple product like this can certainly contribute a lot in easing pain and helps you focus more on getting that perfect set of teeth rather than constantly complaining for the aches and twinges. This is particularly helpful for kids who still have little or no pain threshold and can greatly affect their appetite. Braces need not be overly painful as it once was, the dental wax for braces may just be the right fix you need.

Although we all know that wearing braces can simply be considered as a mere passage of youth, some adults are required to wear bracesas well. As it seems, it requires several months or even a couple of years to correct crooked permanent teeth. However, it should not be a traumatic experience for adults and youngsters alike, the dental wax for braces is certainly the best available product that you can use with unrivaled ease and convenience in the application. The small tube can be easily carried around your tote bag and can go unnoticed and applied in seconds to instantly ease abrasions caused by the contact of metal and skin.

Properly Brushing Your Teeth

Brushing your teeth is extremely important to their health and well being. You probably already know this and know that you need to do it regularly. But do you know how to brush your teeth? You might be surprised to find that you are brushing your teeth wrong. Improper teeth brushing can be ineffective or worse yet, it can actually hurt you. Keep reading and see if you are brushing correctly.

The first thing you need to do is select a quality toothbrush of the correct stiffness. Don't cheap out here, buy a good toothbrush with the seal of the American Dental Association on it. You want a brush with rounded bristles and one that is soft. Be careful not to choose one that is too hard as it can actually hurt you. A hard toothbrush over the years can actually cause gums to recede and wear your teeth over time. Also remember to replace your toothbrush at least every three months.

Now that you have a good toothbrush we can begin brushing. Place the toothbrush in your mouth, after applying toothpaste, and gently brush the teeth by making a small circular motion. Brush the top teeth on the up stroke and the bottom teeth on the down stroke. Work from right to left and then move to the back of your teeth. Gently massage your gums with the bristles of the brush being careful not to scrub too hard. After you have hit the front and the back you can then brush the top of the back teeth. Finish up by brushing your tongue which is the biggest bacteria trap in your mouth and you are done.

That just about covers brushing but remember, brushing alone is not enough. Follow that up by flossing your teeth, scraping your tongue if you have a scraper on your toothbrush and by using a good mouthwash. If you have any questions or concerns, contact your family dentist for help.

Tips For Shopping Online For Home Health Care Services

There are many types of home health services, both traditional and non-traditional. Home nursing and assistant services, massage therapists that visit the home, physiotherapists, even beauty therapists who do face massage could be considered a home health service. Whatever home health assistance you need, there is probably a service or individual who is willing to provide it.

Online shopping for home health services can be convenient and easy, but you need to take some additional care before you decide on a service. Here are seven tips for shopping online for home health services.

EVALUATE YOUR NEEDS. Before looking for a health professional to provide in-home help, you need to clearly define your own needs. What exactly are you hoping to achieve? What sort of person do you think could best help you? What sort of tasks do you think they would have to do in order for your needs to be met? How much can you afford to pay? How much time do you think they would need to spend regularly at your home?

START WITH AN ONLINE SEARCH OF HOME HEALTH PROVIDERS IN YOUR LOCAL AREA. Look for agencies and professional organizations with members who work privately as well. Once you have them listed, check them out. Read the information on their websites and take down contact phone numbers so you can call them.

QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK. Do they have professional membership and if necessary, State registration? Do their employees or contractors have professional qualifications and professional memberships? Can you request someone of a particular gender? Are the service providers who visit the home covered by insurance?

PRICING. You need to ask about the costs of the service. You need to ask if there is a minimum number of hours charged whether worked or not. Some agencies, for example, will charge a minimum of three hours even if the work only takes one hour.

REFERENCES. Request references including contact numbers even if you are using an agency. Either phone the referees yourself, or have someone you trust make the calls for you. If you are going to have someone in your home providing a health related service, you need to be sure of their bona fides. Even though agencies have this role, you cannot be sure that they are fulfilling it. Contacting people who have employed the person you are interested in hiring, helps to prevent mistakes.

HEALTH INSURANCE. Do you have private health cover? If so check with your provider to see if they will cover all or part of the expenses. You might be surprised.

COMPARE SERVICES, PRICES AND QUALITY OF SERVICE BASED ON REFERENCES. Once you have all the information you need, make a decision. Look for the best combination of quality, price, reliability and guarantees.

Shopping online for a home health service can save time but also requires additional safeguards to ensure the genuineness of the provider. If you follow the seven tips given in this article, you are in a good position to find the best home health service for your needs.

Natural Skin Care Treatment Reduces Intrinsic Aging

Did you know that there are two types of aging? One is 'extrinsic' and the other is 'intrinsic'. Extrinsic aging is due to external causes and is considered to be somewhat under our control. Intrinsic aging is from internal, genetic causes and is the 'natural' aging process. While it is true that a certain amount of intrinsic aging occurs naturally, it is also true that much of it is avoidable. The secret lies in our diet and lifestyle, and in our choices of skin care products. Many products on the shelves accelerate aging and, if you want to slow the aging process, it is important to choose natural skin care treatment products that enhance natural function and defenses.

Intrinsic aging results in wrinkles, thin and transparent skin, hollowed cheeks and eye sockets from loss of collagen and underlying fat, sagging, loose skin on the face, hands and neck, bone loss that causes further sagging, and dry skin. All of these are considered to be part of a natural process and therefore unavoidable.

Studies have been conducted on several cultures in which people live into their 90's and even well over 100 with very little of this allegedly 'natural' degeneration. The people of the Hunza Valley in Pakistan, for example, routinely live into their late '90s and beyond without any sign of degenerative disease. Tests for cancer, heart and circulatory diseases, obesity and diabetes, to name just a few of the things they're expected to have at that age, have been negative. In fact, they are completely healthy. This is just one of many such cultures. They look decades younger than their years, and have beautiful skin.

Certainly they don't have access to the many skin care treatment products we have at our disposal so what do they have that we don't? In fact, the mystery is better solved by asking what they don't have: polluted air and water, processed foods, GMO's, depleted soils, preservatives, chemicals, manufactured hormones, drugs, antibiotics, animals raised in cages and force fed foods that are not part of their natural diet and contain even more drugs and antibiotics that we ingest, fruits and vegetables loaded with toxic chemicals, households crammed with poisons that clean our dishes, floors, walls and clothes and provide the fresh scent of 'natural' pine or lavender, sedentary lifestyles and, yes, skin care treatment products that profess to be the fountain of youth and in fact cause many of the conditions they allegedly treat. We are witnessing a classic example of the cure being worse than the disease.

While the picture looks bleak, there is a solution and it is not difficult to implement: make a list of the items above and systematically eliminate them from your household. Choose healthy, natural, organic, chemical-free, non-GMO foods grown or raised in their natural environment, find non-toxic cleaning products and use a little more elbow grease, turn off the TV and get out for a run, and switch to natural skin care treatment products that enhance natural function and structure and protect you from substances that cause 'natural' aging.

These actions alone will soon make your skin problems, not your natural beauty, a thing of the past.

Designing Your Own Home Gym for Fitness and Health

Who says you need to go out and sign up for a gym membership to get fit? With the current array of fitness equipment specially designed for home gym use, there is really no excuse not to get up and get healthy. Besides, if you're thinking about putting up a home gym, you probably are determined to follow a regular fitness regimen. But how do you start designing your fitness gym at home?

Here are a few tips on designing a home fitness gym to meet your special needs and goals:

Budget

More than anything, your budget is what will define the look, size and quality of your home fitness equipment. Shop around for something you like or the kind of gym equipment that will suit the fitness regimen you intend to follow. Don't buy a stair stepper if a treadmill is all you need.

While you're at it, shop for quality home gym equipment. Remember that where quality is concerned, price figures a lot in the equation. Most of the best home gym equipment are priced steeply because they offer top quality. Oftentimes, what you get is what you pay for, so make sure you don't give in to impulse buying. Top quality gym equipment will last for years so don't expect the same reliability with cheap gym sets.

Put your money where your need is. Don't buy home fitness equipment that costs $2000 if a $200 set will do. With so many home gym equipment choices available, you're sure to find one that will fit your fitness goals and budget perfectly.

Usage

Consider how many people in your home will be using your fitness equipment. If you're the only one, then you have free rein in terms of size, style and features that fit your body type and fitness program. If there are other people in the household who will be using your home gym equipment, consider programming features and adequate size that can accommodate different users with different fitness goals.

Location

If you're serious about getting fit, then you need to make room for your home gym equipment. Depending on the size of the fitness equipment you're bringing in, make sure there's enough room for you to move while doing your exercises. A spare room in the house, your family den, even your basement should have enough space. Just make sure it's an area of the house that is conducive to exercise.

Be inspired

A blank wall may not be much of a motivation when you're performing your fitness regimen. Design a room that makes you feel energized. Paint the walls if you can, change the wallpaper or simply hang out a big mirror so you can watch your progress.

Try to keep stuff away from the room that distracts you from your fitness routine. If TV makes you feel lazy, don't put it in the same room. On the other hand, if it helps keep you moving while you're being entertained, then integrate it into your home gym design.

Clone a gym

If you've been to a fitness gym before, you might have noticed certain elements and arrangements that you liked. If you find a certain design attractive or effective, you can take a few things from that and integrate it into your home gym. It could be as simple as gym equipment arrangement or design elements in the gym itself.

Take note of the placement of the gym equipment and see why it's effective in terms of the continuance in a fitness regimen. Observe how spaces between equipment are used and how color inspires gym users to work harder. Making your home gym feel like a professional gym can do wonders in motivating you to exercise.

Designing your home gym

To maximize the space in your home, design a floor plan. This lets you budget your space and provide the best placement for your home gym equipment. Place the taller and bulkier gym equipment next to the walls and arrange smaller equipment around it or near the middle of the room.

When it comes to space allocation for your home gym, here are some approximate room space assignments you might need for different fitness equipment:

Stationary bicycle – 10 sq. ft.

Treadmill – 30 sq. ft.

Rowing machine – 20 to 25 sq. ft.

Ski machine – at least 20 sq. ft.

Stair climbers – at least 10 sq. ft.

Single-station gym equipment – at least 30 sq. ft.

Multi-station gym equipment – at least 50 sq. ft.

A home gym offers a lot of things that health clubs cannot – privacy, convenience and a comfortable place that has less distractions. When designing a home gym for your fitness routine, always keep in mind your needs and goals. If your home gym can meet these requirements, you'll always look forward to an inspiring workout and live a healthier life.

Tips For Choosing In-Home Long Term Care Services

When the need for long term care services begins, very few people want to go to a nursing home to receive care. The vast majority want to transition into this part of life within familiar surroundings, usually their own home.

Thankfully, the options for receiving in-home services are constantly expanding these days, and here are a few tips for selecting a quality home care agency to provide the needed care:

1. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions of each agency to make sure that you feel comfortable with their services. You are interviewing them to make sure that they will be able to fill a very important and sensitive role in your life.

2. Find out about their hiring practices. Do they conduct thorough background checks on each caregiver? Are they bonded and insured?

3. Find out if they have arrangements made to provide a qualified backup person in case the assigned caregiver is ill or can't show up for some other reason?

4. Find out what licenses and qualifications the caregivers provided by each agency are required to have in advance.

5. Understand that when in-home services begin, it may take a couple of weeks or so to get the consistency of care that you desire as the caregivers are getting used to your particular needs and wants. However, if problems and inconsistencies persist, speak to the agency clearly and often to get it resolved. Do not be afraid to change agencies if progress on these issues is not being made.

Another important consideration for home care involves separating medical duties from non-medical chores. Of course, most home care providers are able to not only provide assistance with activities of daily living like eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, moving around and so forth, but they also can perform domestic activities too. This can include light cleaning, running errands, shopping, preparing meals, and so on.

The important point to consider is that if you are paying a home care provider to do the domestic chores, you may be spending too much. It may be less costly to separate out the non-medical activities and hire someone who can get this kind of work done at a lower cost per hour. Of course, the medical duties should always be carried out by those with appropriate training though, and they earn every penny of the cost for their services.

Some long term care insurance polices allow you to use non-skilled persons for domestic work around the home, and others don't. Having this option can be important in some cases, especially where domestic services will be needed along with custodial care.

In any case, there is no substitute for planning ahead and being organized as you see that the need for long term care may be arising within the near future.
